ARLINGTON -- Arlington commuters will have a new option to get to downtown Fort Worth starting Sept. 2.
Thats when the Fort Worth Transportation Authority, known as the T, will launch weekday bus service between Arlingtons Park and Ride lots and the Intermodal Transportation Center. Once there, commuters could hang out downtown or get on the Trinity Railway Express or other T buses. The nonstop commuter service program will offer three morning peak-period trips to Fort Worth and three evening peak-period trips back. The pick-up locations are at the Lamar Boulevard Park and Ride Lot at Interstate 30 and Cooper Street/Lamar Boulevard in north Arlington and the South Park and Ride Lot at Interstate 20 and Park Springs Boulevard in southwest Arlington.The city of Arlington contributed $75,000 toward the one-year pilot project through a grant from the Sue Pope Fund, which aims to reduce ozone emissions in North Texas. The T will collect all fares from riders, which are $5 per day roundtrip or $80 per month.Commuters can take a free, short test ride on a bus at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Lamar Boulevard Park and Ride Lot.Bus passesDaily bus passes can be bought onboard the bus.
